What is an AI employee — and how is Oprativ's different?
An AI employee is a named worker you create in Oprativ for a specific role — an invoice chaser, an enquiry desk, a bookkeeper, a marketer. It learns your business from your own files, prepares real work on its own, and brings it to you to approve. What makes Oprativ's different: they're governed. Unlike a chatbot (which just answers) or an autonomous agent (which acts on its own), an Oprativ employee runs local-first on your machine and never sends anything without your yes.
Can AI actually run a business?
It can run the daily work of one — chasing invoices, replying to leads, preparing quotes, keeping the accounts, watching for what you'd miss. Oprativ does the doing; you stay in charge of every decision that leaves the building. Think of it as a workforce that never clocks off, not an autopilot.

Does my data stay on my machine, and is it private?
Your data lives on your machine — your business's knowledge sits in files on your own computer (or your own private hosted space), not a shared cloud. When a task needs a frontier model, only the excerpt needed for that task travels, through a zero-data-retention pipe: processed in memory to produce your answer, never stored, never used to train. Our own servers handle only accounts, licences and payments.
Can Oprativ answer my customer emails safely?
Yes, safely — because it drafts, it doesn't fire. Oprativ replies to enquiries same-day in your voice and with your prices, then shows you exactly what will go out; it only sends once you approve, and even then you get a 60-second undo. Incoming messages it merely reads can never themselves trigger an action, so a malicious email can't puppet your workforce.
